How are spinning wheel odds calculated?
An entry's chance per spin is its weight divided by the total weight of all entries. A wheel with "Grand prize" at weight 1 and other entries adding up to 15 gives the grand prize a 1 in 16 chance (6.25%). Equal entries share the chance evenly, so 10 equal entries each have a 10% chance.
What does weight mean on a wheel?
Weight sets the size of a slice and its chance of winning. An entry with weight 3 has a slice 3 times bigger than an entry with weight 1, and wins 3 times as often over many spins. On any wheel page, add a weight by typing *3 after the entry.
What is the chance of winning at least once?
The chance of winning at least once in several spins is 1 minus the chance of losing every spin. An entry with a 10% chance wins at least once in 10 spins 65.1% of the time. The "At least once" column calculates this for every entry.
How do odds work with several winners?
With several winners per draw and no repeats, every entry's chance to be among the winners grows. With equal entries, the chance is the number of winners divided by the number of entries: 3 winners from 30 entries gives each entry a 10% chance. With unequal weights, the calculator estimates the chances from 200,000 simulated draws.
Odds for prize wheels
Prize wheels often use weights to make big prizes rare. Put the odds in your giveaway rules so participants know their chances before they spin. Build the wheel on the spin the wheel page, then lock it before the draw so the list can't change. The fairness test shows the odds in action.
